By Dan LaTurno, President – Peoria Production Solutions (PPS)
As 2025 begins, I want to share my thoughts on the year ahead based on market changes, observations, and emerging trends around us. At PPS we are actively connecting with our customers on current activities and future needs. I have recently attended several industry events and spoken at some of them.
It’s no surprise that the manufacturing industry is poised for a dynamic year. For example, reshoring continues to gain momentum, bringing critical production processes back to the US and driving renewed confidence in domestic manufacturing. With a positive economic outlook and growing demand for locally sourced goods, the future is cautiously optimistic for businesses ready to commercialize these opportunities.
Another key trend shaping the year is further stabilization of the supply chain. The past few years have highlighted the vulnerabilities of extended global networks, prompting companies to prioritize resilience and reliability. For manufacturers, this has brought closer partnerships with suppliers, a focus on domestic sourcing, and a commitment to efficiency across every stage of production. There is caution though as the US continues to combat high prices from inflation and global political conflict. Still, we can be positive about the directional opportunity.
Companies are increasingly outsourcing jobs like kitting, blister packaging, and e-commerce fulfillment to expert partners who can streamline processes, save packaging costs, and ensure products reach customers on time. We see contract packaging and fulfillment becoming business essential tools. These collaborations allow businesses to focus on their core strengths while leveraging the specialized expertise of their partners.
As a Midwest-based company, we offer a unique combination of logistical advantages, agility, and the ability to provide highly custom projects. Our central location allows for efficient shipping across the country, and our team prides itself on bringing the Midwest values of hard work, reliability, and trust to every partnership.
For businesses looking to prepare for 2025, we recommend focusing on three key areas:
- Strengthen supplier relationships: prioritize long-term partnerships with geographically strategic suppliers to improve supply chain agility and reliability.
- Upskill and train: continue to invest in training to help retention on your team, increase quality and help adapt to changing market needs.
- Outsource strategically: partner with contract packaging and fulfillment experts to optimize operations and meet customer demands without overextending resources.
Whether it’s creating unique kitting solutions for subscription boxes, developing packaging for complex e-commerce needs, or delivering solutions for the healthcare industry, our team specializes in turning challenges into opportunities.
The year ahead is full of promise for the US manufacturing sector. By embracing reshoring trends, leveraging partnerships, and focusing on resilience, businesses can position themselves for sustainable growth.
